Life as an Operations Manager at Kokonut Pacific, Solomon Islands

Working as an Operations Manager for Kokonut Pacific in the Solomon Islands is both challenging and deeply fulfilling. Every day brings new tasks and opportunities to make a tangible impact, not just within the company but also across the many island communities we support.

My daily responsibilities involve overseeing the smooth flow of operations, particularly within the Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) processing line. From managing company logistics and assets to planning structural developments that enhance our processes, I strive to ensure that everything runs efficiently and sustainably. Every decision and improvement is made with the broader vision of the company in mind, to “improve village livelihoods” through ethical and organic practices. A significant part of my role includes organizing the delivery of Direct Micro Expelling (DME) spare parts and fulfilling orders from our suppliers. These suppliers span across various provinces and islands, and coordinating timely deliveries is essential to maintaining our production standards and supporting our partners. Whether it's VCO or cocoa, our network depends on reliable logistics, and I take pride in ensuring that we meet expectations.

Engaging with our VCO suppliers is another rewarding aspect of my job. I sometimes meet with producers from different islands, each bringing a unique background and perspective. These interactions not only help us strengthen our supply chains but also foster mutual learning and respect. I also welcome and guide new farmers who are interested in joining our DME or cocoa processing programs, explaining how they can become part of our growing network of organic producers.

Quality control and compliance are also central to my responsibilities. I coordinate our company’s HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) system, ensuring that we maintain the highest food safety standards. Supporting our organic certification efforts is another key focus, as Kokonut Pacific is dedicated to producing clean, sustainable products that reflect the integrity of our processes and the care of our communities.

Throughout all these responsibilities, I stay committed to the company’s mission of improving lives in the villages. Working closely with rural communities, helping them build sustainable income streams, and seeing their growth fuels my own personal and intellectual development.

Every challenge is a learning opportunity, and every achievement is a step forward for the people we serve.

Being part of Kokonut Pacific has not only enhanced my operations management skills but also deepened my appreciation for community-based development and the power of ethical business practices.
