A Day in My Life as a Freelance Sales and Marketing Officer

Queeny Komasi works as a freelance Sales and Marketing Officer selling KOSI products.

Working as a freelance sales and marketing officer for KOSI products has been one of the most rewarding and dynamic experiences of my life. Every day is a little different, but it revolves around one key goal: serving our 215 + domestic customers and growing our reach in regional markets.

Morning Routine: Planning and Checking in.

I usually start my day by reviewing my sales checklist. This includes:

-      Checking pending orders.

-      Follow up with leads from previous day

-      Monitoring orders and delivery updates (Honiara/Province)

Because I work with existing and new customers (local and regional), I split my focus between maintaining strong relationship and building new ones. I like prioritise my tasks by using a mix of:

-      Customer relationship tool: daily communication via calls and shop visitation

-      WhatsApp, Messenger and email for direct follow up

-      Excel spreadsheet to track sales performance and visitation

Afternoon Routine: Customer Engagement & Marketing Strategy

The time between mid- morning to afternoon is for action:

-      calling or visiting retail clients

-      prospect to new clients

-      introducing new products or promotion

-      collecting feed back on KOSI products (what’s moving, what’s not)

-      customers to sign credit agreement

One thing I’ve learned is that personalised service goes a long way. KOSI products standout because we know our products value, and we know about our customers’ needs - whether they run a mini mart, a local wholesaler, a hotel or a cornershop.

On market front, I work alongside our marketing supervisor

-      planning seasonal promotions

-      featuring in simple content promo videos

-      organising promotion booth for important events

Expanding Regionally: The New Frontier

We’ve recently started gaining traction with regional customers, and this has added an exciting challenge to my role. From initial contact to negotiating price and logistics. Its early, but we’ve already seeing results.

My role here is to:

-      Build relationship with potential distributors

-      Work closely with KOSI’s logistic team to ensure smooth deliveries.

End of theDay: Reporting & Check Quote orders

At the end of each day, I compile

-      A list of orders for MYOB quote

-      Up date sales and visits in Excel spreadsheet

-      List of shops to visit and call for the next day’s activity

Why I LoveThis Job

Freelancing in sales and marketing is not always easy - it requires persistence, creativity and discipline. But I love the Freedom, the People and the Impact I see every day. KOSI isn’t just brand- it’s a team I’m proud to be part of, and I see real value in helping customers succeed with our products.
